 Silicon Slag

Silicon Slag is a by-product of silicon metal's production. It contains large metallic silicon and impurities of other elements, can be used as a good deoxidizer in molten steel deoxidization, meanwhile it can also purify the liquid steel. For its low price and good effect, steel-mills use it as a substitute of ferrosilicon. Regular size are powder at 0-5 or 0-10 mm. Silicon briquette is made from silicon slag powder, they are with similar features and applications.
Brief introduction: Off grade silicon metal like its name means, is unqualified metallurgical si metal. Silicon content used to be 93% min but recent years with advanced production technique, the purity of off grade silicon metal became higher than 95%, 97%. Because it's relative high purity and surprising cheap price. It is very suitable to replace model Si 553 in some area. In some Aluminum Alloy model, only small quantity of silicon is needed. And some model didn't require very strict Silicon or Fe, Ca content. So off grade silicon is very good substitute and very efficiency material to save cost . Features and usage: * Aluminum alloy ingot production, as additive of silicon. * Dioxidizer in steelmaking as replacement of ferrosilicon or high purity silicon metal. * Other replacement of higher grade silicon metal, metallurgical, chemical or other industries, with its much cheaper price. *As an additive to non-ferrous alloys, industrial silicon is also used as an alloying agent for silicon steel with strict requirements, and as a deoxidizer for smelting special steels and non-ferrous alloys.

Applications

1. It is a good substitute for ferro silicon in steel making which has advantage in reducing the making cost.
2. The silicon slag powder can be made silicon briquette which has far and wide market at home and abroad.
3. It is used as deoxidizer in steel making.
4. Silicon content from 30~50% is used for silicon addition for iron making in the blast furnace and cupola, 50~70% is used for the deoxidization of steel making.
